Measures, reports and data extraction
A real strength of Pragmatic Tracker is the ability to build new measures to meet a variety of needs. However, what goes in must be able to come out in order to be fully useful.
All users with access to reports need to ensure that they can access the data in a manner that's useful to them. Often, summary data and total measure scores, either at beginning and last available, or session by session, will suffice.
However, where all items of measures are required, or/and where large amounts of text need to be extracted, particular attention needs to be paid to how data appears in reports and, where necessary, bespoke customised reports need to be commissioned.
What goes in must come out
TESTING
Whatever measures you choose to work with, whether already built for you by us or where you build them yourself, in addition to testing their functionality from your own and your client's perspective you must ensure you test how they extract to reports properly. They may not behave as you hope and expect.
Data Volume
WARNING
One always needs to be mindful of data volume. A report may run well with 50 or 100 clients but when numbers get to several hundred to thousands the ability for Pragmatic Tracker to build reports in a web-based environment may be limited. Intelligent use of different 'teams' for different projects combined with date range filtering can make data extraction more reasonable but attempting to extract all data for all clients may simply not be feasible.
OFFLINE OPTIONS
Where one needs to process an organisation's data in a different environment one can request that we provide a Mysql data extraction. The data can then be processed by personnel with the relevant skills and abilities to provide whatever sort of reporting is necessary. This sort of external reporting service is not offered by our team.
Reports and client profile data
Client report
This report captures client profile information with 1 client per row, with summary information about the number of sessions and total score of measures at first and final available administration.
Session report
This report captures session information, 1 session per row. Client profile information can be repeated on every row for ease of interpretation. Total scores for measures are available (one can select specific measures or all measures). Item scores of each measure can be extracted for up to 3 measures on 1 report.
IMPORTANT...Reporting considerations and measures
An important feature of Pragmatic Tracker is the ability to build new measures. These may be more quantitative, numbers based measures or a mixture of quantitative and qualitative, with free text. One must be mindful to ensure that what goes in can be satisfactorily extracted in a way that can be used.
Bespoke customised reports
While the standard reports in Pragmatic Tracker will meet the needs of many there will be times where more complex reporting is needed. Researchers interested in more complex data analysis may need data extraction in more specific and complex ways. Please contact us to discuss such specific requirements and we can quote for the specification, building and testing of such specialised reports.
